Bibi Ayesha, also known as Kaftar (The Pigeon, a name given to her by her father because she would fly from place to place so quickly as if she were a bird.), lays claim to the title of Afghanistan’s only female warlord. She has operated for over two decades, and at one point was in command of two thousand troops, fighting against the Soviets and then the Taliban. Here is her story.
